Transformation #1-Power of Therapy
The transformative power of therapy:
My journey, why everyone could benefit from therapy and how to take the first step.
In this post, I want to share how regular therapy sessions have improved my life. It’s been an intimate and influential experience that I hope can help others struggling. So, if you’re considering therapy or you are already in therapy, I hope this post will encourage you to keep going!
How I found myself in therapy and what my first few sessions were like
After returning back to my hometown-Tehran, Iran-during the Covid pandemic, I was overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of life in my new environment. I found myself procrastinating and binge eating to find stability and comfort when everything seemed so overwhelming. My already low self-esteem because of being fat deteriorated further, and that’s when I sought help. At first, It was difficult to take the first step but then after my first few sessions with a therapist, I felt relieved that I had taken care of myself enough to do something about my pain. Immediately, therapy made me feel validated for everything going wrong, resulting in a shift from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered.
Why I kept going to therapy and how it's helped me cope with the uncontrollable situations
After hitting rock bottom emotionally, I worked with a therapist to get my life back on track. I started building self-love again by doing what I loved, like painting and writing. The more I opened myself up in therapy, the better equipped I was to cope with uncontrollable situations. My therapist helped me reframe how I look at things and navigate stressful moments when they arose. Working on a mixture of cognitive behaviour and talk therapy has certainly changed my life for the better.

Why everyone could benefit from therapy at some point in their lives
No one likes to admit it, but we often find ourselves so emotionally weighed down that it affects all areas of our lives. It’s easy to put off getting the help and support we need since so many are so expensive and not covered by insurance. However, there is nothing more empowering than having an emotional outlet for our troubles, so if it is feasible in any way, shape, or form, regular therapy is worth pursuing. We all have feelings and thoughts that sometimes feel so large that they become impossible to pay attention to in everyday life. Still, therapy provides a safe space to unpack them and gain valuable insight into how you handle conflicts in your life, how your past may play out currently, and so on. Everyone could benefit from it at some point
My experience with different therapists
Despite Finding my way to mental wellness has been an emotional rollercoaster — from feeling dismissed and unheard, to having a huge weight lifted off of me. Through trial-and-error with different therapists, I opened up more each time; sharing tearful thoughts that had laid heavy on my mind for years. Honest dialogue and compassionate guidance helped unpack deeper issues while teaching accountability along the journey towards solace. Still though it can be difficult finding the right fit! What works wonders for one person doesn’t always work wellfor another – so be sure you find someone who fits your personal style… because not all “influential” people are equal when we’re talking about what’s best foreach individual in their own unique quest towards wellbeing!
